Jepegomi Academy educates children in the Kahawa community and anchors the Food at School program — the reason a hot meal reaches all 131 of them every school day.

What we know
The school today
The Academy sits in Kahawa, Nairobi, Kenya, run by the same hands as the church — Pastor Simon & Joyce Nderitu. Children come from families across the neighbourhood, many of whom cannot reliably provide meals at home.
It did not start where it stands. The first classrooms were a row of iron-sheet rooms on the roadside, with the school's name painted on by hand. Lessons happen in semi-permanent blocks now — stone to the window sill, iron sheet above, a proper roof over both — and the bigger classrooms the government requires are going up behind them.
Because the school feeds the children it teaches, the two are hard to separate: attendance, attention, and learning all move together with the meal.
